It’s going to be bittersweet leading worship for the final time this Sunday at Proximity Church but I’m excited for the new adventures that lay ahead! I don’t know what exactly those adventures are just yet but I’ve been leading worship for over 2 decades and for some time, I have felt that it’s time for me to pursue other creative opportunities. It’s been a couple months in the making since I’ve resigned but still counting down to the last day has been tough!
One BIG reason for this decision was the simple idea of being able to simply go to church together as a family. After all the time that I’ve been serving and leading worship (or speaking on rare occasions), I’ve never been able to just drive to church with my family and be able to sit with them throughout the whole service. It’s small but I greatly look forward to this opportunity. I don’t doubt that I will lead worship again in the future at whatever church we end up at or by helping out churches that don’t have a regular person to lead worship (maybe even sharing a message) but I doubt that I would take on another church staff position.
I plan to take some time off to get refreshed as well as some much needed reset & relaxation and then we’ll see what the future holds. In the meantime, I”ll be still be teaching Music to elementary students, playing out in the community (follow me on BandsinTown, Instagram (@jmbunch), or my website for upcoming dates).
All that said, this Sunday will be the last time I lead worship at Proximity Church which is a church that I helped to start and was in the initial dreaming/planning meetings so even though I feel excited, guided, and directed to this decision, it is still tough after leading there for 8 plus years. I would be honored if you would join me! Service is at 10:30am!
